Body found behind Santa Clarita mall

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. Sheriff's homicide detectives were called out to the scene at around 1 p.m. Monday where they found the body just off the southbound onramp to Interstate 5 from the 126 Freeway.

Authorities said that the body could be that of 18-year-old Valencia High School student Brigett Kennemore. Kennemore went missing on Oct. 26, and she was last seen getting off a Santa Clarita Transit bus a few miles from where police found the body.

The body was located somewhere in the brush behind an under-construction strip mall.

"It's very, very sad. I'd heard that about a month ago, there was a girl that's been missing. I don't know, it just frightens me," said Tracey Mason, a neighboring business manager.

According to her parents, Kennemore suffers from a developmental disability that could have played a role in her disappearance.

Though the identity of the body has yet to be confirmed, authorities have confirmed that the body is of an 18-year-old Caucasian woman.
