New LAX fire station approved for $13.5 M

City officials broke ground Thursday on a new $13.5 million fire station at Los Angeles International Airport. The new aircraft rescue and firefighting facility will improve readiness for emergencies at the airport. It will replace the existing fire station 80.

The project received $10.8 million in federal stimulus funding.
