Fresno to Seek Contempt Charges against Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

Fresno, California One of those clinics appears to be /*Med-Mar*/, located in the /*Tower District*/. When Action News showed up there Monday, a store employee asked if our reporter was a patient, but once he identified himself, the employee quickly locked up the store.

The city says it may soon seek contempt charges which could lead to fines and even jail time for business owners who refuse to shut down.

Fresno Assistant City Attorney Doug Sloan said, "It is frustrating but we have seen in other jurisdictions where for example in the city of Oakland where the U.S. attorney got an order to shut one down and they continued to operate and the U.S. attorney had to pursue contempt also. So it's not unusual."
