Colon health linked to what you eat, drink

LOS ANGELES Researchers from the Netherlands found that eating fruits and vegetables and drinking tea and red wine gave some protection to certain people from colon and rectal cancers.

Experts say the key ingredients are catechins and flavonoids, which are found in those foods.

They looked at the diets of nearly 121,000 men and women, ages 55 to 69.

Researchers found that overweight men and normal weight women seemed to reap the benefit.

The study is published in the "International Journal of Cancer."
