UC application deadline extended to 11:59 p.m.

OAKLAND, Calif. It was originally set for midnight Monday night, but a computer glitch slowed down the online application process. Many prospective students weren't able to submit their applications on time.

UC director of undergraduate admissions Susan Wilbur says the exact number of students who were shut out of the process is unknown.

She says 129,000 applications for freshman and transfer student had been received through Tuesday evening.

That's up from last year's 126,700.
