Police hunt for Moorpark carjacking suspect

MOORPARK, Calif. It all started around 6:10 p.m. Sunday at 51 Majestic Court in Moorpark.

Authorities said they responded to a call from a man who said a suspect in his mid-20s approached him with a knife and demanded his valuables. But when other people began to walk toward them, the suspect ran away.

Shortly after, deputies learned of a carjacking about 400 yards down the street. The victim told investigators that the suspect, fitting the same description as the suspect in the first incident, had threatened him with a knife and ordered him out of his vehicle.

When the suspect got in, he accelerated too fast and struck several other cars. He then got out of the vehicle and fled on foot, according to investigators.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Sgt. M. Gillette with the Moorpark Police Department at (805) 494-8200.
