Pilot survives plane crash near Corona Airport

CORONA, Calif. The Cessna 172 went down in a field near Railroad Street and Auto Center Drive at about 2:45 p.m. It touched down alongside a dirt road and flipped over.

The pilot, who was the only person on board, was able to crawl out and escape with only minor injuries. He suffered a broken nose and was transported to Riverside Community Hospital.

The plane experienced engine problems shortly after taking off from the airport, according to the Corona Fire Department.

Federal Aviation Administration officials will investigate the cause of the crash.
