Thieves target city street lamps for copper

LOS ANGELES Investigators say the suspects have stolen more than 4000 feet of electrical copper wire so far.

The thieves have struck in two separate incidents. The first took place on south Westmont Drive near Sherwood Avenue on the afternoon of December 16th. The second happened on west Ramona Road sometime between December 18th and December 21st.

Police say that in the first incident, the suspects wore orange vests to give the appearance that they were City Utility workers.

Details on the second incident are sparse but it was discovered after a local resident reported that a street lamp was not working.

Both suspects are described as male, Hispanic, in their 30's with brown hair. They were seen using a red Chevrolet crew cab pick up.

Anyone with information is urged to call Alhambra Police.
