El Monte school official shot dead in Mexico

EL MONTE, Calif. Authorities say 33-year-old Agustin "Bobby" Salcedo was one of six men abducted and killed by several gunmen who stormed a restaurant in the city of Gomez Palacio, in the state of Durango.

Salcedo was vice president of the El Monte School District and an assistant principal.

He and his wife were in Mexico to visit family.

"You need people who are leaders in communities like ours, people who are leaders. And Bobby was a leader in every sense of the word," said El Monte Mayor Andre Quinter.

Quintero and Salcedo's brother said the shootings may have resulted from drug-related violence in northeast Mexico, and they urged police to bring the killers to justice.
