'Love & Hope for Haiti' concert held March 20

California Lutheran University and the Pacific Pearl Music Association are presenting a benefit concert for victims of the Haiti earthquake."Love & Hope for Haiti" will be held from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, in CLU's Samuelson Chapel. The Pacific Pearl Symphony Orchestra, the Thousand Oaks Chinese Folk Ensemble, the Yang Sheng Choir and The Dancing Strings will perform classical, ethnic, folk instrumental and chorus music. Moorpark College's Jazz Ensemble will also perform.

The Pacific Pearl Symphony Orchestra is a four-year-old nonprofit organization that consists of the four main groups performing at the concert. The 30-member orchestra plays classical instruments under the direction of Bob Aguilar, who also conducts the Moorpark College Jazz Ensemble.

The 15-member Chinese Folk Ensemble plays traditional Chinese instruments including the liquin, erhu and bamboo flute. Xing-Zhong Xia conducts both the ensemble and the 20-member choir. The Dancing Strings is an all-string chamber group consisting of violins, cellos and violas.

The chapel is located south of Olsen Road near Campus Drive in Thousand Oaks. Additional parking is available at the corner of Olsen and Mountclef Boulevard.

A minimum $10 tax-deductible donation is requested. All money will be donated to Haitian relief efforts.
