I.E. volunteers to ship supplies to Haiti

March 15, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
Volunteers will gather at the San Bernardino Samaritan's Feet warehouse on March 26 to prepare a shipment of 10,000 pairs of shoes, socks and medical supplies going to Haiti. Shoes of Hope Haiti is a partnership formed by Samaritan's Feet, Food For The Poor, Sharing Christ Our Redeemer Enterprises (SCORE), and the Southern Baptist Convention to help the people of Haiti as they recover and rebuild their lives.

San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Vice-Chair Josie Gonzales, San Bernardino Mayor Patrick Morris, and others will be among the volunteers working at the Samaritan's Feet warehouse on Friday, starting at 10:00 a.m.

"Providing these shoes and other needed supplies will help protect the hurting from the dangers and disease that a natural disaster, like this devastating earthquake, leaves behind," said Alton Green, Samaritan's Feet West Coast Regional Coordinator. "I invite others to help us as we seek to help the injured in Haiti and work to invest in their future."

NIKE donated the shoes selected for this first Shoes of Hope Haiti shipment. The socks, medical supplies and other much needed items were donated by other partners wishing to be part of this local outreach.

The Samaritan's Feet warehouse is located at 195 N. Del Rosa in San Bernardino near the former Norton Air Force Base.
