2 Hesperia teens beat by alleged gang members

Two alleged gang members from Apple Valley were arrested Sunday, suspected of the attempted murder of two teenage boys from Hesperia.San Bernardino County Sheriff's investigators say that the two 17-year-olds were walking in the 13600 block of Yakima Road in Apple Valley about 4:30 p.m. Sunday when two males in a vehicle sparked a verbal confrontation with them.

Investigators say the suspects attacked the juveniles before leaving the scene in their vehicle.

One of the victims was taken to St. Mary's Hospital with a head injury and was later released. The second juvenile victim received minor head injuries and was immediately released.

The description of the suspects' vehicle was broadcast to surrounding patrol units. A vehicle matching the description was spotted at a convenience store on Bear Valley and Kiowa roads.

Deputies arrested Jose Castro, 18, and Jerrit Rodriguez, 23, both of Apple Valley. Upon searching their homes, deputies found gang related materials.

Both suspects were booked into the Victorville jail for attempted murder.
