Innocent bystander shot in East L.A.

An innocent bystander was wounded Thursday night when several shots were fired in East Los Angeles, police said.Officers said when they arrived at about 9:45 p.m. near the corner of Mathews Street and Whittier Boulevard they discovered the victim had been shot in the leg. The unidentified man was taken to a local hospital for treatment. A hospital spokesman said the wounds are minor and the man is expected to recover.

Investigators have yet to say what may have led to the shooting. No arrests have been made.
