Group of suspects wanted for Ventura stabbing

Ventura police are searching for a group of stabbing suspects who attacked a man walking home early Monday morning.Police say the victim, 23-year-old Evan Chavez of Ventura, was walking home through Barranca Vista Park at 12:51 a.m. when he was confronted by a group of suspects.

According to authorities, the suspects challenged Chavez to a fight and then attacked him. Chavez tried to fight them off, but was overpowered and knocked to the ground.

Police say one of the suspects was armed with a screwdriver, which was used to stab Chavez. Chavez sustained multiple stab wounds, but his injuries were not life threatening.
