A cell phone robbery suspect was caught on tape and LAPD hopes the video images will lead them to the suspect.

April 15, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
Los Angeles Police detectives are hoping video images of a suspect who robbed a cell phone store near downtown Los Angeles last month will help lead them to the robber. On March 18 at around 3:25 p.m., an armed man robbed Lupita's Cell store near Central Avenue and 41st Street south of the downtown area. The suspect ran into the store, pointed a gun at an employee and jumped over the front counter.

He forced the employee to empty the cash register. The suspect than grabbed the money and took off. No shots were fired and the store clerk was not hurt.

He is described as an African American man and in his early 30s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds.

Anyone with information about the suspect's identity or whereabouts is asked to call Newton Division robbery detectives Natalie Humphreys or Michael Matsuda at (323) 846-6572 or the LAPD tipline at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 OR 10877-527-3247.
