Two arrested after high-speed pursuit

RIVERSIDE, Calif. It all began when a /*Riverside Police*/ captain, driving down Indiana Avenue, saw a bloodied man stumble out of a house and observed two people in a nearby GMC Sonoma pickup truck. The captain followed the pickup and radioed for patrol officers to assist the victim who had apparently been struck with a metal pipe.

Sgt. Steve Bradshaw described it as "a serious attack." The victim was hospitalized, but his condition was not immediately known.

Bradshaw said several patrol units began pursuing the suspects who got onto the westbound Riverside (91) Freeway and quickly exited at Magnolia Avenue. They got back on the 91 Freeway and headed west to the Ontario (15) Freeway in Corona, where they turned south. The pickup continued south into Lake Elsinore at 70-80 mph, when Riverside police turned the pursuit over to the CHP.

A short time later, after exiting the freeway in Murrieta the pickup truck slowed to a stop on Via Volcano Road, and the suspects surrendered. Their names have not been released.
