Librarians rally outside mayor's home

HANCOCK PARK, Calif. City librarians took over the front lawn to protest library budget cuts. True to form, the group brought books and read stories to children.

The protest was organized by the Librarians' Guild.

The mayor has proposed cutting thousands of city jobs, including more than 160 library positions, to offset a projected $500 million budget deficit.

Many branches have already cut back their hours because of the tight budgets.
