Jenesse Gala aims to fight domestic violence

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. It was the /*Jenesse Center's 30th Anniversary Silver Rose Gala and Auction*/, at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The annual event is chaired by /*Halle Berry*/, and Grammy winner /*Alicia Keys*/ was scheduled to perform. This year's theme was, "In a Perfect World."

"It's important for everyone who has a voice, who has a chance to have sort of a global or national spotlight to use that power for good. To just sit on it would be a waste of what you've been given," said Barry.

The annual event honors those who help in the struggle against domestic violence and raises funds to sustain the center's programs for women and children.

"'Just walk away,' or, 'Don't put your hands on me.' I teach my sister, I teach my daughter that it's never their fault," said actor /*Jamie Foxx*/, who was also at the gala.

County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and his wife Avis were honored for their efforts to stop domestic violence.

The fundraising events continue Monday with the second annual Halle Berry Golf Classic.
