Funeral set for former LAPD Chief Daryl Gates

The public can pay its respects to the late Los Angeles Police Chief Daryl Gates on Monday.

Gates died at his Dana Point home April 16 after battling cancer. He was police chief from 1978 to 1992.

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. on the grounds of the police administration building, in the Ronald F. Deaton Civic Auditorium at 100 West First Street in Downtown Los Angeles.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.
