Pet owners may be fined for leash violations

Pet owners in Los Angeles could soon be fined if they don't use a leash or if your dog barks too much. The Los Angeles City Council will consider a plan to allow the Department of Animal Services to fine pet owners.Animal control officers currently give pet owners a "notice to comply" if their pets are kept more than 35 feet from their house and if their pets are found wandering the streets without a leash.

Pet owners could be hit with fines of as much as $100 per violation. Supporters say the city would have collected $2 million last year if violators had been fined.
