NoHo High wins third in national science comp

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. Team members are Shaun Mehra, Slater Victoroff, Kyle Lam, Isaac Kim and Harry Levine. Their coach is Altair Maine.

For their third place finish, the team members each earned a TI-Nspire calculator from Texas Instruments and $1,000 for /*North Hollywood High School*/'s science department.

North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham, North Carolina won first place.

The science bowl competition tests students' knowledge in science, with team members quizzed in a fast-paced format.

The three-member teams, plus one alternate also include a teacher who acts as an advisor and coach.

North Hollywood High School was the winner of the /*Los Angeles Department of Water and Power*/'s 18th Annual Science Bowl Regional Competition in February and represented the city of Los Angeles at the National Science Bowl, held April 29 to May 4. The bowl is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.
