Federal court won't reconsider Smith ruling

May 6, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
A federal appeals court panel has rejected a bid by the late Anna Nicole Smith's lawyers to reconsider its ruling that gave her none of the fortune from her late billionaire husband, J. Howard Marshall.A panel ruled Wednesday it would not rehear the case. They also denied a request for a hearing before all members of the San Francisco-based court.

Back in March, an appellate court ruled that a Houston jury was correct when that Marshall was mentally fit and under no undue pressure when he wrote a will leaving nearly all of his $1.6 billion estate to his son.

Lawyers for the former Playboy Playmate's estate have said they would appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
