Ventura colleges may boot out children, pets

VENTURA, Calif. Administrators with the /*Ventura County Community College District*/ say children are often left in cafeterias and libraries without supervision. It may have something to do with the economy. Students with young children may not have enough money for child care and may be bringing their children on campus while they attend classes.

The proposed policy would allow children on campus for occasional visits. The policy would exclude enrolled students under the age of 18.

Another proposal would prohibit animals on campus, except for guide dogs and animals allowed to be at school for classroom instruction.

The college district board will vote on the proposed policies at a meeting Tuesday, May 11, at district headquarters.
