Safety officials weigh in on Knott's new ride

BUENA PARK, Calif. /*Cal-Osha*/, the state safety agency that regulates theme park rides, is requiring the park to install special scales to monitor the weight of groups getting into rafts at the new Pacific Spin ride.

The order was triggered by a string of accidents in which Cal-Osha says rafts went into operation carrying too much weight.

Knott's says the scales will weigh only groups of riders before they enter the rafts, not individuals. Park officials say only the ride's operator will see the results.
