Family pit bull mauls San Bernardino toddler

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. According to the /*San Bernardino Police Deptartment*/, a male toddler was attacked by one of his family's two pit bulls at about 7:19 p.m. A second pit bull living in the home was not believed to have been involved in the attack.

The boy was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he underwent surgery and is said to be in serious condition. He is expected to survive.

The attack occurred on the 1500 block of W. Kendall Drive in /*San Bernardino*/.

Both dogs were removed by /*San Bernardino County Animal Care and Control*/ personnel without incident. The dogs were taken to a nearby shelter.
