Tanning beds linked to higher melanoma rates

Researchers say that just ten tanning sessions can increase your risk by about 34 percent.

A hundred sessions can increase your risk of developing melanoma by about 200 percent. In fact, researchers found that some indoor tanning beds boost the risk of melanoma by 400 percent.

The tanning bed industry disputes the findings, saying that more research needs to be done.

An estimated 30 million Americans visit indoor tanning salons each year.

Melanoma is the most dangerous type of skin cancer. It is the leading cause of death from skin disease.
