Residents protest cellular tower in Van Nuys

VAN NUYS, Calif. Protesters say the church stands to make a lot of money at the expense of the neighborhood's health and property values.

/*T-Mobile*/ will build a 45-foot tower on the property.

Protesters tried to voice their opinion about the dangers of such a project to parishioners.

"It causes radiation, causes property values to go down and it causes cancer. Do you want to be subjected to this every week when you go here, when you go to church?" protester Larry Buck asked parishioner Zeke Matevosian.

Matevosian said he could see the protesters' concerns.

Protestors say that the church is being paid by T-Mobile for a 30-year lease to build the tower.

T-Mobile's media relations have not responded to Eyewitness News' requests for a comment on the controversy.
