SANTA ANA, Calif. Santa Ana police said the incident began when the victim, who was driving to work at the time, noticed a driver in a black Cadillac Escalade staring at him while at a traffic light. When the light turned green, they raced as they approached the freeway entrance.

Police said the victim won the race to get on the freeway first, but then the driver of the Escalade pulled up next to the victim's vehicle and shot one round.

The victim was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

The shooter fled after the shooting. Police described him as a Hispanic male between the ages of 25 and 30.

The freeway was temporarily shut down as police investigated the scene.
