Retailers want big biz at Dana Point Boat Show

DANA POINT, Calif. Kurt McClintock shows the features on a 46-foot Sea Ray Sundancer filled with all the comforts of home.

The boat is one of more than 100 yachts up for sale at the Dana Point Harbor Boat Show.

In its 10th year, more than 10,000 people are expected to come through over the weekend.

Boats range from 20 feet up to 70 feet, some with a casual feel, others luxurious.

Prices range from the low 10,000s to millions of dollars. The price tags on many have been drastically reduced after a slow down in boat sales for the last two years.

To give you an idea of how good some of the deals are, one boat is valued at $400,000. It's going for half that.

Organizers say opening day Thursday saw attendance numbers up 50 percent from last year. They think it may be due to specials being offered, and a new addition: a green expo with environmentally friendly products.

With hot weather expected this weekend, organizers hope to see not just lookers and dreamers, but buyers.
