Boy stabbed by another student in Whittier

WHITTIER, Calif. A watch commander at the Norwalk L.A. County Sheriff's station said one student stabbed another after school.

The boy was transported by L.A. County paramedics to a hospital. He was stabbed in the thigh. The injury was not life-threatening.

According to East Whittier School District Superintendent Joe Gillentine, the stabbing was an accident. The two 8th-grade students were walking home from school and "messing around" with a knife when the incident occurred.

The other student was in police custody.
