Woman shoots herself for medical attention

NILES, Mich. The woman, who is unemployed and does not have health insurance, said she shot herself because she wasn't getting help for severe pain from an injured shoulder.

"They said that it had to be life threatening or imminent danger for them to do anything so I was making it be imminent danger that something had to be done," said Kathy Myers of Niles, MI.

However, her desperate plan backfired. She didn't get the care she thought she'd get for her painful shoulder. Now, police say she could face criminal charges of firing a weapon within city limits.
