June 17, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
A new research study has identified low testosterone levels as the cause for male menopause-like symptoms. The report says symptoms include a decreased sex drive, erectile dysfunction and an inability to engage in vigorous activities like running or lifting heavy weights.

Researchers say male patients receiving hormone therapy with testosterone reported relief of some of the symptoms.

The study says unlike female menopause, which affects all women, male menopause only affects about 2 percent of men.
