Saturday, thousands turned out for the start of the two-day festival. It benefits such groups as /*Heal the Bay*/, the Surfrider Foundation and Inside the Outdoors.
World champion surfer Shaun Tomson and actor Sam Trammell from "/*True Blood*/" were just a few of the celebrities who caught some waves.
"I'm a surfer, and I'm out in the water all the time and I really see firsthand how dirty it is and how polluted," said Trammell.
People who don't want to surf can eat, drink, play volleyball, and make sandcastles at the event.
