Ventura residents have close run-in w/prowler

A prowler made multiple attempts to make his way into a Ventura residence Tuesday around 11:30 p.m., trying desperately to knock down the front door of the home located at 600 Walcott Avenue.After several unsuccessful attempts, the intruder entered the back yard and was finally able to pry open a window to gain entry into the house. Terrified, the victims took refuge in a locked closet on the second floor of the home and immediately called police.

Ventura police officers arrived on scene shortly, only to find that the intruder fled out of the rear of the residence. Authorities canvassed the area, but they were not able to find the suspect.

The intruder is described as a black male, in his late teens to early 20s with short, dark hair. He was wearing a grey shirt, black shorts, black shoes and was carrying a brown backpack.
