Man arrested for videotaping up women's skirts

VENTURA, Calif. The investigation that led to his capture began when sheriff's deputies were notified that a man on the grounds was acting suspiciously. After a search of the grounds, deputies identified the suspect as Murat Aksu, 32.

Investigators say Aksu used a miniature video camera hidden in a briefcase to secretly videotape under women's skirts as they walked to and from the Government Center Complex. They say Aksu engaged his victims in conversation while the videotaping was occurring.

Investigators also say Aksu had been walking around the complex wearing a government I.D. around his neck giving him an official appearance. Witnesses had seen him around the area periodically since February.

Aksu was released on June 19 after posting a $10,000 bond.

Sheriff's investigators ask anyone who may have witnessed or been victimized by this activity to contact the Sheriff's Major Crime Unit at (805) 477-7000.
