A 38-year-old transient and convicted sex offender was arraigned in a Santa Ana court room Friday afternoon, accused of rubbing up his crotch against a 14-year-old girl on a bus in Anaheim.Deputies arrested Curtis Michael Regulus near Newport Boulevard and 17th Street in Costa Mesa about 5:45 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities say they were able to track down Regulus thanks to media reports. They say the most helpful tip came from a bus driver.

Investigators say the teenage victim got on the bus about 4 p.m. Saturday in Placentia after visiting with her grandmother, when Regulus moved to sit behind her. The girl grew uncomfortable and moved to the front of the bus near the driver, but Regulus moved again and sat across from her.

When the bus got to Orangethrope Avenue and Harbor Boulevard in Anaheim, she walked to the back door of the bus to exit, but before the doors opened, Regulus allegedly pushed his crotch against the girl from behind. She pushed him away, but Regulus allegedly grabbed her arm and pulled her toward him. The girl managed to break away, but as she ran for help, Regulus yelled, "I will find you!"

Regulus is charged with two counts of lewd acts on a child and one count of assault with the intent to commit a sex offense.

Regulus pleaded guilty March 18 to a misdemeanor count of touching an intimate part of another person and was sentenced to 180 days in jail, according to court records. He was freed on June 11.
