'Golden Years' bandit hits San Gabriel bank

SAN GABRIEL, Calif. The robbery occurred at around 11:15 a.m. last Saturday at an East West Bank located at 140 West Valley Boulevard. The suspect ordered a teller to "not say a word," and demanded cash in denominations of 100s, 50s and 20s.

He further threatened that if the teller did not comply, someone would get hurt. He then reached for his waistband and allegedly signaled that he had a weapon. He also told the teller that he had a partner with him, and if the teller did not comply, the partner would open fire.

The details of this robbery are similar to two previous robberies linked with the suspect. The other robberies occurred on Jan. 23 in /*Alhambra*/ and on March 17 in /*Rosemead*/.

During the most recent robbery, witnesses say the suspect wore blue jeans, jean jacket, blue shirt and a green hat. Witnesses also describe the suspect as a white male in his 50s or 60s with a large build with grey hair and mustache.

The suspect is believed to be driving an older model, beige van as a getaway vehicle.
