Man drowns in Boulder Bay of Big Bear Lake

At 10:47 a.m. Monday, San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies from the Big Bear station responded to a report of male possible drowning in /*Big Bear Lake*/.

When deputies arrived, the victim was not visible. Two friends of the victim said the three had been swimming in Boulder Bay approximately 100 yards from the shoreline.

The victim had become distressed, according to deputies. The two friends attempted to help the victim, who slipped underwater and did not surface. The victim was reportedly in 15 feet of water at a temperature of approximately 64 degrees Fahrenheit.

The /*San Bernardino County Sheriff's Dive Team*/ was summoned to search for the victim underwater. The victim was located at about 12:51 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was not identified pending notification of next of kin. He was described as an 18-year-old white male resident of Yucca Valley.
