Polish bank is first to offer biometric ATM

POLAND The device allows users to withdraw cash simply with the touch of their finger.

Unlike ATMs in the United States that require a card and pin number, the new device uses infrared light that passes through a person's fingers to detect a unique pattern of micro-veins beneath the surface.

However, it may be a while before the new device appears at your local bank.

An industry analyst says most U.S. banks have already factored in ATM fraud and will be reluctant to spend the thousands of dollars necessary to install the new machine.
