Kids get sick while swimming in Arcadia pool

ARCADIA, Calif. Lt. Bob Anderson of the /*Arcadia Police Department*/ said 30 children were in the pool at Arcadia County Park on South Santa Anita Avenue at the time of the evacuation shortly before 11:30 a.m.

Seventeen children were taken to the hospital, but Anderson said it was just a precautionary measure. The kids had reportedly complained of breathing problems as well as other symptoms including irritation to the eyes and throat.

Anderson said the respiratory problems appear to have stemmed from chlorine inadvertently released into the pool.

No serious injuries were reported. The pool remains closed at this time.
