Murder-suicide suspected in Hollywood shooting

HOLLYWOOD The shooting happened just before 1 p.m. at Sunset T-Shirts Warehouse on the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Serrano Avenue in Hollywood. Two men were found shot to death inside. The incident appears to be a murder-suicide.

On Tuesday, investigators said 50-year-old Rabbi Marc Douglas Bayar was shot to death by Sung Chul Pak, the owner of the T-shirt store. Bayar was the landlord of the store, according to authorities, and Pak allegedly shot Bayar after getting into an argument and a fistfight. Pak then allegedly turned the gun on himself.

Los Angeles Police officers responded to the scene around 12:40 p.m. on a report of a fistfight inside the store, located on the 5400 block of Sunset Blvd. When they arrived, they found two men dead inside the store in what homicide investigators believe to be a murder-suicide.

"Upon arrival, we discovered two persons down inside the location suffering from gunshot wounds," said LAPD Sgt. Enrique Mendoza. "The fire department responded, rendered aid and pronounced both persons as deceased."

Aaron Pak said his father had moved to the U.S. 20 years ago and owned Sunset T-Shirts Warehouse for the last 10 years.

Police confirmed that a handgun was found inside the store, and that they were not looking for any outstanding suspects in the case.

There have been 30 homicides within one mile of the location in the last three and a half years.
