Robbers beat female security guard in Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. Authorities said the store owner witnessed the two suspects concealing alcohol in their clothing at around 8:30 p.m. on Monday. The owner, 58-year-old /*Ventura*/ resident Suwannee Mathiyakom, notified the security officer on the strip mall premises.

When security officer Donna Chaparro arrived at the store and attempted to detain the suspects, one of the two suspects punched the 44-year-old security officer in the back of her head and the other punched her in the face.

The impact of the punches knocked Chaparro to the ground. Both suspects fled from the store located at 9358 Telephone Rd.

Responding law enforcement officers canvassed the neighborhood but were unable to locate the suspects. Chaparro was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center where she was released after being treated for her injuries.

One suspect is described as a Hispanic male weighing approximately 160 pounds and about 5 feet 6 inches tall. He is described to be in his 20s with short, dark hair and was wearing a black shirt with blue jeans.

The second suspect is described as a black male weighing approximately 180 pounds and about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He is described to be in his 20s and was wearing a blue and red hat with a grey hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
