Drunk teen steals motorized shopping cart

WAUWATOSA, Wis. Wauwatosa police caught the Sunday night arrest on a dash cam.

Officers responded after an employee at the Sentry Foods store reported that someone had driven off with one of the store's motorized shopping carts.

It didn't take long for police to catch up to 19 year-old Matthew Kawa - he was only going about a half-mile an hour. His bike was propped up on the cart.

Kawa told police he had some drinks at a restaurant near the grocery store and felt too buzzed to ride his bicycle home, and that he planned to return the cart in the morning.

Kawa's blood alcohol level was .119, but police did not charge him with driving under the influence. Officers say they can make the strongest case for theft so they gave him a municipal citation.
