Hollywood Teamster union agrees not to strike

BURBANK, Calif. The vote came after the two sides agreed on a compromise during last-minute negotiations.

The main sticking point on the table was a pay raise for Teamsters Local 399, which represents more than 3,000 drivers who work for the major studios.

/*Hollywood*/ certainly relies on the drivers and a strike could cause serious disruptions because drivers are needed to deliver equipment to studios and film and TV locations.

The studios have offered a 2 percent raise and increases in contributions to the union's health plan. The Teamsters want a 3 percent raise, but the studios reportedly offered other incentives.

The last time the Teamsters struck in Hollywood was in 1988 and they stayed off the job for 24 days in that dispute.
