Contact lenses top list for child injuries

LOS ANGELES The FDA said more than 70,000 children and teens get emergency room treatment each year for medical device-related problems.

Researchers said kids with contact lenses often have infections and eye abrasions.

Other medical device problems include puncture wounds from needle injections and infections from catheters.

The study was published in the journal Pediatrics.
