Family rescued after Toyota plunges into pond

July 29, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
A state highway worker rescued a woman and her children after their car veered off a bridge and fell nose down into a pond in Richfield, Minn. The dramatic rescue was captured on a surveillance camera.

The state highway worker jumped into the water and pulled on the car door of the Toyota Camry until it opened, and then helped the mother and her two children to dry land. They were not hurt.

The woman said her 2003 Camry had revved up and she couldn't control it, even with her foot on the brake.

The woman's car is not part of Toyota's sudden acceleration recall.
