14,000-acre Crown Fire to be fully contained

PALMDALE, Calif.

The so-called Crown Fire has charred nearly 14,000 acres since it erupted on Thursday. The blaze destroyed nine structures, including four homes.

The fire was 97 percent contained by 7 p.m. Monday.

Authorities believe someone working on a car wheel accidentally started the fire.

Air quality officials issued a smoke advisory in the Antelope Valley area due to the lingering dense smoke in the region. Officials are warning residents to stay inside and avoid all unnecessary outdoor activities. This is especially a concern for people with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly and children.
