Crews search for boater off Catalina Island

CATALINA, Calif. USCG Petty Officer Matt Schofield said that Frank Cipriano was reported missing Sunday morning from a yacht named Indecent Proposal that was anchored in Cherry Cove, which is just west of Isthmus Cove.

Authorities said Cipriano's empty dinghy was found a mile off Eagle Reef.

Cipriano, who is in his 30s and weighs about 160 pounds, was wearing black shorts and polo-style shirt.

/*Coast Guard*/ officials did not know who reported him missing or if Cipriano was believed to be in the water or on land.
