22-yr-old given probation for fake kidnapping

Nancy Salas of Glendale was sentenced on Friday of three years of probation and 100 hours of community service for faking her own kidnapping in May. The 22-year-old also lied to friends and family about being enrolled in UCLA.

The Glendale woman who made up a story about being kidnapped has been sentenced to three years of probation.Nancy Salas was given that sentence on Friday, along with an order for 100 hours of community service.

The 22-year-old disappeared in May, triggering a massive search near her Glendale home.

She appeared in Merced, claiming to have been kidnapped, but now admits that was a lie.

Salas had also been lying to her family about being enrolled at UCLA.

According to police, she dropped out of school in 2008.
