Palm Springs fire containment expected soon

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. Officials said the blaze was reported about 10:10 a.m. Sunday. By 1:30 p.m., more than 100 firefighters were on scene to put out the fire with the help of four helicopters and three air tankers.

Fire officials said they expect it to be fully contained by Sunday night.

"It's basically grass and brush areas on fire in the rocky terrain up there," said Pam Bierce of the U.S. Forest Service.

No injuries were immediately reported and no structures were immediately threatened.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
